Frequently Asked Questions

How can I submit my MCAT or GRE scores?
The easiest way to submit these scores is via email.  Simply log onto your test account and use your print screen key to take a shot of your score(s).  Be sure to include both your name and all categories within the screenshot.  This record can then be pasted into an email message and sent directly to Pamela Lester at pamela.lester@lmunet.edu.

I have already applied to LMU’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (DCOM).  Can the Master of Science (MS) program use my AACOMAS application to suffice for the MS application requirements?
If you have already applied to DCOM for the current application cycle, you can contact Pamela Lester via email to give her permission to access your AACOMAS application. She can be reached at pamela.lester@lmunet.edu.  In sharing your AACOMAS information, this will give the MS program access to your MCAT score(s), letters of recommendation and officially verified transcript information.  You will still need to submit your personal statement regarding your application to the MS program along with any updated transcripts that have not yet been added to your AACOMAS application.

In addition to LMU’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (DCOM), which other professional programs have past Master of Science (MS) and Post-Baccalaureate Medical Sciences Program (PMSP) enrolled in to continue their education?
Our PMSP and MS graduates have and are attending professional schools all over the country.  Those programs include the following colleges and universities:

  • A.T. Still University of Health Sciences School of Osteopathic Medicine - Arizona
  • Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Burrell College of Medicin
  • Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Marion University College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Nova Southeastern University
  • Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Texas Tech University College of Medicine

I know that I will be taking certain DCOM courses alongside first year medical school students while I am in the MS program.  If I am accepted to DCOM, will I have to retake these courses during my first year?
You will begin the Master of Science program in the fall semester and be enrolled in DCOM’s Medical Gross Anatomy (7 credit hours) course.  If you complete the course with a final grade of B or better and are accepted to DCOM you will not have to repeat the course during your first year of DO studies.

I know that I will be taking certain courses alongside first year LMU College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) students while I am in the MS program.  If I am accepted to LMU-CVM, will I have to retake these courses during my first year?
You will begin the Master of Science program in the fall semester and be enrolled in LMU-CVM’s Veterinary Anatomy I course.  If you complete the course with a final grade of B or better and are accepted to LMU-CVM you will not have to repeat the course during your first year of DVM studies.

I am concerned that my MCAT/GRE score is not competitive enough for DCOM or the LMU-CVM.  Will I need to retake the MCAT/GRE while I am in the MS program?
This is a question that can be best answered on an individual basis.  While the MS program does offer a guaranteed interview to DCOM/LMU-CVM based upon a minimum 3.0 graduate GPA at the end of the fall semester, your test scores must still be competitive.  If you are concerned about your score not being high enough, you are encouraged to speak further with the DCOM/LMU-CVM Admissions Offices or Holly Napier, MS Recruitment & Student Services Coordinator.

Where can I learn more about LMU’s Residential Life?
As graduate students, you have two options if you choose one of LMU’s residence halls.  The six pictures below show our apartment-style housing option.  You will have your own bedroom (with a single twin bed instead of the bunk beds shown below), a private bathroom and a spacious closet.  The remaining area including full kitchen and washer/dryer will be shared with your two graduate roommates.  These apartment style facilities are available on-campus in The Village and at our extended residential life area that is approximately one mile from the main campus.

The other option offered to graduate students is a private room at LMU’s University Inn (UI). This facility is located approximately one mile from the main campus. The UI offers one or two room studios that include a twin bed, kitchenette, bathroom and closet area.  This residence hall is limited to graduate and professional students.
