Tampa, Florida, Feb. 21, 2019 – December graduates from the Lincoln Memorial University-Caylor School of Nursing (LMU-CSON) inaugural class of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in Tampa earned a 100 percent first-time pass rate on the most recent National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).

“At the Caylor School of Nursing we take pride in educating highly skilled, compassionate nurses that hospitals want to employ,” said Dr. Mary Anne Modrcin, vice president of extended sites and CSON dean. “Excellent pass rates are just another example of the high standards we expect from our students and demonstrate what it means to be an LMU nurse. The students, faculty and staff have all worked hard to attain these results, and we commend their efforts,” said Modrcin.

The NCLEX-RN is the licensing exam for registered nurses and tests knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies essential to being a practicing nurse.

“Our team of students and faculty have worked diligently over the course of the program to ensure the students mastered the material necessary to successfully pass the NCLEX-RN and begin their professional careers as registered nurses,” said Dr. Lea Dodge, executive director of the LMU-Tampa nursing program. “With a high demand for nurses in the Tampa area, LMU is pleased that our qualified graduates will be able to help meet the needs of our community while fulfilling the mission of the University.”

To help fill the need for qualified nurses in Florida, LMU partnered with AdventHealth (formerly Florida Hospital) in 2017 to offer an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in Tampa. Located at the AdventHealth Tampa Health Park, the LMU-CSON offers a variety of degree options for students in the Tampa area to meet their career goals, including the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).

“LMU has a high standard of learning that prepares you for your nursing career as well as for taking the NCLEX,” said Heather Smith, RN, a member of the LMU-Tampa Inaugural BSN Class of 2018.

LMU was founded in 1897 in Harrogate, Tennessee, and the Caylor School of Nursing offered its first nursing degree – the ASN – in 1974. Nursing is the largest undergraduate major at LMU, and the University also offers online programs including an RN-BSN online, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in nursing administration, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). LMU nursing graduates have gone on to nursing careers in a variety of settings, from major medical centers to small community hospitals.
